Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation invited entries from preschool children for its annual Summer Sketch Contest between 1 August and 30 September. 63,879 entries were submitted by children at 873 kindergarten and nursery schools and after a strict selection process, the winners of the various prizes have been selected. The children were asked to draw a sketch depicting the kind of a truck or bus that they see hard at work around them each day or a futuristic vision of the kind of vehicle they would like to ride in, the kind of vehicle that would be cool to see on the roads. After two preliminary screenings, 204 entries went through to the final judging by a panel chaired by Tei Yamamoto, Japan’s leading modern artist. The panel selected a total of 88 entries in awarding three Grand Prix, five First Place and 10 Runner Up prizes as well as 70 Honorable Mentions. |
