Al Habtoor Motors sponsors International Figure Skating Championship - The Dubai Golden Cup 2013
After being part of key social, business, entertainment and high octane boxing & polo events in the UAE, Al Habtoor Motors shifted its focus to the graceful sport of figure skating as a key sponsor of Dubai Golden Cup International Figure Skating Championship.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the championship was held at the Dubai Mall Ice Rink from 25th to 27th April 2013.
The International Skating Federation was set-up in Switzerland in 1892 and figure skating has been in the Olympics since 1908. Regulated by the International Skating Union, the skaters performed two programmes - short and long. These included spins, jumps, moves in the field, throw jumps and death spirals. Skaters also performed solo, with a partner and in a group against others in similar categories.
Athletes from over 20 countries with a total of 220 skaters participated in this mega sporting event. The guests of honor at the event included Irina Slutskaya, the two-time Olympic silver medalist and Ararat Zakarian, the American figure skater and skating choreographer.
"Backed by a sporting heritage, Al Habtoor Motors has always been a key part of world class sporting, musical and business events and looks forward to continued enthusiasm and support for such initiatives that take UAE's events to a global arena." said Mr. Karl Hamer, Managing Director of Al Habtoor Motors.
"We at Al Habtoor are also proud to announce our support to Expo 2020. As you all can see, our employees bear the Expo 2020 badge in support of this vision. We, as an organization, strive to contribute to Expo 2020 and although our contributions are nominal, we strive to be a part of this significant bid by sponsoring more and more of such prestigious events in the future." added Mr. Jagdish Parulekar, Chief Financial Officer for Al Habtoor Motors.About Al Habtoor Motors
